Duratran print in Lightbox 48″x36″
small light boxes 50×40 cm
I photographed a collection of minerals collected from around the world placed on shelves at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh. Collections such as these stem from the Kunstkammer which symbolically conveyed their owner’s control of the world through its microscopic reproduction. The image is presented in a light-box, which allows the minerals to shine through the black background. A reference to Stain glass windows common in churches, but here instead of religious icons, are natural resources, which have become the modern day reason to conquer lands.
